Soojeong Yim is a Korean-born artist whose practice spans painting, tattooing, writing, and cooking. She explores the quiet tensions of memory, migration, and ritual through layered surfaces and tactile gestures. Using everyday materials such as tofu, fabric, and pigment, she constructs visual spaces where softness meets rupture and the absence of an object leaves a lingering trace—evoking a dislocated sense of time.

Her work unfolds as a painterly inquiry grounded in her personal narrative, shaped by her experience of migration and encounters with unfamiliar landscapes and sensations. She reflects on how social, cultural, and political forms of violence become internalized in daily life, operating subtly through emotions, bodies, and the fabric of relationships. Within these layered silences—of the unsaid, the erased, and the unacknowledged—such violence gradually reveals itself. In those ruptures, she poses questions and responds through a language of form, steadily constructing a visual vocabulary of her own.
